Picture of the Week.

I have decided to start trying to post at least once a week with something other than quizzes and such things. Not sure how good I will be at it but here goes nothing.

I thought I would start with a picture of the week. I save lots of pictures on my computer. Things that inspire me in my writing or that just make me happy. I have been collecting art and such for about a decade now and decided to share. Alot of them I do not remember where I got them but if you know please feel free to speak up. Always love to hear from others.

This one I got from DeviantArt.com. Wonderful place. Wonderful pictures and such.

Along with each picture I plan on adding a little bit of a story or explaination about what I like about it and encourage anyone who wants to chirp in with your own opinion.

You would think that this would make you think of a battle between good and evil but I like to think of this being the surrendering of light to the darkness. I could see a companion piece to this of darkness falling on the blade of the light as well. I love the contrast of colors and how well they blend together.

Well that is it for this time. It's a little short but I am happy that I am getting started at least. Next time I think I will include a short story with a picture. Never hurts to work on the writing.

The Light in the Darkness

I never know how to introduce these things. I was in an odd mood and just wanted to start writing something.... anything. This is what I got. I have some interesting things in mind if it all works out as I hope. So this is the beginning to my story... "The Light in the Darkness...."

      Jenyssa walked silently through the woods with a pleasant smile on her face and an aching hole deep inside her soul. The beauty around her brought her peace and pain at the same time. The crisp fall day was perfect, perfect blue sky, perfect breeze at the perfect temperature, perfect fall colors and it made the emptiness in her life seem even more ugly than usual even as she found the most amazing joy in the moment. Tears streamed down her face as she wanted nothing more than to pull it all inside her and use it to push away the darkness that seemed to try and consume her a bit more each day. She took note of everything around her using its light to probe the darkness inside like one might probe a sore tooth with your tongue. You know it is going to hurt but you cannot help yourself. The need to feel something, anything was better than the nothing that was always with her.

    She was delighting in the tingling pleasure that running her fingertips over an oak leaf brought when she noticed a faint glow deeper within the trees. It was not the normal glow of sunshine through leaves but rather the faint glow of moonlight through fog surrounded by shadows so dark they seemed to go on for eternity.  Though mysterious and unusual it did not frighten her as it should have done. Instead of wanting to run away in fear she was drawn closer by a deep yearning need to feel the cool light envelope her. Without hesitation she walked forward arms open wide as if embracing the unknown and in a just a few moments her breath was taken away as the shadows disappeared and she was blinded by the light.

    Jenyssa had felt alone her entire life and yet she could never seem to give up. She felt that she was living in a world that she did not belong, that perhaps she was even living someone else’s life. Yet there were times such as that moment when she was in the woods or walking alongside a stream in the mountains where there is not a human soul to be found for miles that she found a calm within her inner tormoil and she almost felt like she belonged.
